PROJECT 2022

Energetic Beacon - Interactive Consumption Data Visualizer

ENERGÍAS RENOVABLES

This visualizer allows you to easily observe and analyze data on energy consumption in Chile by commune, including electricity demands and demands for various fuels. In addition, technical metrics of supply quality, billing, and demographic and socio-economic indices (including indicators of vulnerability and energy poverty) are included. The objective is to provide structured information that allows to study, in a friendly, independent way and without depending on an expert, the behavior of energy consumption in Chile, identifying trends and dependencies. In addition to historical data, hourly, daily and weekly electricity consumption data during the Covid-19 pandemic, including residential, commercial and industrial demands, stand out.

Our conviction is that making available a greater volume of data, integrated in a monolithic way, and structured and visualized in a coherent way, will improve key decisions both public and private, allowing a more effective transition towards a more balanced future in social, environmental, economic and technical terms.

This is an academic initiative, public and private, led by ISCI and where the Ministry of Energy, and the companies SPEC and Enel Distribución Chile collaborate.

Data sources: Enel Distribución Chile, Ministerio de Energía, Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional, Servicio de Impuestos Internos, Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas, Comisión Nacional de Energía, Ministerio de Desarrollo Social y Familia.

The data is deployed in Tableau, a software specialized in graphing and data visualization.
